Juno is a sweet senior mare. She's a striking bay roan paint and we can't wait to see how she sheds out!
Juno appears to have been raising a few babies but was definitely a looker in her day. She's currently in our quarantine crew, waiting to be vetted and evaluated.
Denali is a sweet red dun quarter horse who is said to ride and drive. He does appear to have some arthritis and is ready too find a nice retirement. He's super friendly and would make a great pasture pet or light riding friend.
Denali is currently in our quarantine crew waiting to be vetted and evaluated.
Vegas is a handsome quarter horse gelding with lots of chrome! He's super flashy looking and very friendly. He nickers anytime he sees people coming and is the first to meet you at the gait. He's said to be broke to ride but could use a refresher.
Vegas is currently in our quarantine crew waiting to be vetted and evaluated.
Felix's a handsome 20 year old gelding. He's been at the sanctuary for about 8 weeks. He is a reserved gentleman who is very respectful. He loves his grain and isn't pushy about it. He recently got his teeth floated and behaved beautifully for the vet and the trailer ride. He appears sound and we will evaluate his riding abilities here soon.
Topanga is a beautiful red dun. She's a tall girl close to 16 hands. It was said that she was used as a broodmare and while we haven't ridden her, she stood great for saddling. With a bit of time we think she'd make a great riding horse. She has been a little herd bound but hasn't been doing anything but gaining weight since she arrived at the sanctuary. She was super skinny when we got her but it's really coming a long way and is a cuddle bug!
Clementine is one of the newest additions to the sanctuary. She's a sweet little Arab cross mare. She's friendly and social and making great friends here. She's a beautiful dark bay and we can't wait to see her shine!
Clementine has wonderful ground manners and the first to great you at the gait. She's been touchy about her feet and we are working on desensitization. However she seems to come around quickly to training and we are sure someone put a lot of work into her at one point.
She did great for saddling and doesn't seem to mind being away from the herd.
Moose found his way to Sophia Stables as an owner surrender. This poor boy had been left at a local boarding barn. Before being abandoned Moose had gotten cloud boots but they never had been removed and his poor feet had been rubbed raw. When a trainer at the barn took him in, she realized he would need some extra tlc and that's when we were able to help him out. Since taking Moose in, he has struggled with founder. He is appears to be coming around and will be available for adoption as a pasture pet as soon as he is cleared by our ferrier.
Moose has had some ground work and is super affectionate. He's the kind of horse that meets you at the gate. He does well in a small and large herd but does tend to be a bit herd bound. He's a middle of the her horse. He is in his late teens and approximately 14.3 hands.
Tilly is a very special girl who has had a really hard time. She requires some extra care and compassion and is only pasture sound. When Tilly was pulled she was suffering from founder. We have since been able to get her feet under control. In diagnosing her feet, it was determined that she has metabolic factors that were contributing. Tilly also suffers from heaves, which makes managing her health a bit more difficult. However she does do well on pasture with low sugar grain.
Tilly is our herd intermediary and always welcomes the new horses. She is a great middle of the pack girl who just wants everyone to get along. Tilly is a gorgeous black and white tabiano with one blue eye. She is about 13 years old and approximately 14.3 hands.
